Brand news: Covering Capitec yesterday, we noticed that it managed to grow its brand value by almost 100 percent since last year, up to over $1.1 billion. That led us to checking the top ten bank brands by growth and there's another brand that has had even better results. Revolut appears to have grown its brand value by 8 times that amount.
A Brand Finance report earlier this year put Revolut's brand value at $1.9 billion, driven by "marketing investment, customer expansion and new market entry". Will it grow again in 2026 with a UK banking licence in hand?
The UK (and Europe)'s most valuable brand remains HSBC, which is valued at $27.8 billion: Revolut incidentally took over HSBC's high-profile slots at airports. While not the biggest brand, the highest-scoring brand is Natwest-owned Coutts, which is remarkable considering it rarely makes the news. (Search for Coutts and chances are you'll find the last time it was in the news was 2023 after it ejected Nigel Farage as a customer.)
