Brand Management And The Role Of Senior Executives
Introduction
In RBI Level I Marketing, we discussed the concept of brand. We began by stating:
"When a brand is well established, it summarises what a company stands for and establishes an emotional and non-rational reaction from a person seeing the brand. It doesn't affect everyone in this way, but it will affect the bank's target market (that includes existing customers and prospects)."
What is a Brand?
A brand is more than just a logo or a name: it is the essence of a bank or a company. It represents and translates how people perceive, trust, and connect with the business when built effectively. A strong brand is built on consistency, reputation, and experience.
Perception
In Brand, perception is important, and is how customers feel about a company. A brand is built into every interaction, from customer service to marketing messages. In banking, trust is everything. If customers see a bank as secure, reliable, and customer-focused, they are more likely to seek out such a bank to solve their problems and when the sales are fulfilled, to stay loyal.
The Role of Executives and Business Owners
Senior executives and business owners carry the ultimate responsibility to ensure that the bank delivers what it talks about, the message it delivers, what it promises. Senior executives must be able to articulate clearly what the brand stands for and understand how this position is reflected in the delivery of the products and services, and every customer interaction. Branding must also be integrated into how the company hires, trains, and engages with employees, reinforcing its values at every level.
We will discuss how they do this in this module.
